According to its own information, DLP Technology, a division of Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI), presented the new DLP LightCommander Development Kit at SPIE Photonics West. The user-friendly tool offers comprehensive options for integrating DLP technology into light-processing applications. Developers who want to work with DLP technology receive features such as an optical light engine, standardised interfaces and application software with the new DLP Development Kit, it continues. The flexible modular architecture accelerates the development of optics, electronics and software where rapid spatial light modulation is required. The DLP LightCommander is ready for immediate use. This turns prototype development into a matter of minutes where hours were previously required.

According to company information, the DLP LightCommander Development Kit was designed, manufactured and supported by LOGIC. In addition, DLP Design House partner ViALUX developed a simple 3D scanning application based on the DLP LightCommander platform, demonstrating DLP’s exceptional suitability for contactless 3D measurement processes. The versatile optical module in the DLP LightCommander was developed by VISITECH.

Thanks to the high switching speed, the large number of grey levels and the ability to capture light in the visible range as well as in the UV and infrared ranges, 3D solutions for optical measurement using DLP technology are said to be faster and more accurate than conventional solutions.

The DLP LightCommander Development Kit is expected to be available in the spring of this year.

DLP Pico Projector Development Kit v2

DLP is also presenting the new DLP Pico Projector Development Kit v2. In this revised version, customer feedback was considered intensively, it continues. This is a light-modulation solution that can be integrated quickly and easily into structured-light optical 3D measurement applications as well as machine vision, biometrics and surveillance.

The DLP Pico Projector Development Kit v2 is available now from Digi-Key.
