Only eleven months after commissioning the state-of-the-art digital broadcast handling and tape-free archive, ProSiebenSat.1 Produktion is expanding the channel portfolio in its Playout Center with SAT.1 HD, ProSieben HD and kabel eins HD. From January 31, a total of 16 different channels will therefore be played out from the new Playout Center.

From the outset, ProSiebenSat.1 Produktion designed both the new broadcast handling and the associated tape-free archive, the Material Pool, for expansion.

“When installing the new channels, we benefit considerably from the existing infrastructure components in the Playout Center. From ingesting the tapes, through storing and managing the material, to playing it out, all the important basic elements for handling additional channels are in place. Previously, we would have had to build an entirely new production line here,” explains Dr Martin Emele, Managing Director of ProSiebenSat.1 Produktion.

With a capacity of more than 200 terabytes on the intermediate storage alone, which delivers the broadcast material to playout, ProSiebenSat.1 Produktion will be able to integrate further channels in future.
