According to the company, the Munich visualisation expert is thus offering students and research teams the chance, for the fourth time, to step into the spotlight with exceptional and creative study projects in high-end visualisation and attract the attention of an international specialist audience.
As one of the leading service providers for real-time 3D visualisation and a provider of the industry-leading RTT software suite, RTT supports the lively exchange between universities and industry, the company explains. In cooperation with leading graphics-card manufacturer NVIDIA, the company is giving research teams and students the opportunity for the fourth time to put their best work to the test in the RTT Emerging Technology Contest and measure it against market requirements. The focus is on innovative technological processes in real-time high-end visualisation.
As the market continually requires new creative concepts alongside advanced technologies, RTT is now also announcing another competition for the first time, the RTT Funky Visualisation Contest, which focuses on the application result: creative visualisation in perfection.
While the RTT Emerging Technology Contest 2010 is looking for technology projects in 3D visualisation, 3D interfacing and simulation technologies, the RTT Funky Visualisation Contest 2010 concerns all forms of 2D or 3D visualisation, it adds.
RTT co-founder and Executive Board member Ludwig A. Fuchs explains: “Innovative technologies provide the tools that open up new forms of communication. But outstanding creative achievement and creativity are also important components of exceptional visualisations.” For its implementation, RTT has once again gained a high-calibre partner in graphics-hardware specialist Wacom. Submitted work does not have to be created especially for the competition; ongoing student work and research projects are also welcome.
Both competitions are international, RTT explains, and are aimed at universities, research teams and students. The submission deadline is March 26, 2010.
The prizes in the RTT Emerging Technology Contest 2010 are two high-performance Quadro FX 5800 graphics cards from NVIDIA, while the winners of the RTT Funky Visualisation Contest 2010 will receive Intuos4 Medium pen tablets from Wacom. In addition, the winners will receive the unique opportunity to present their concepts and visions to leading figures in the industry at the international RTT EXCITE conference in May 2010 and establish important contacts for future success.
The competitions are part of the RTT University Programme (RTT UP), with which the company supports the transfer of expertise and creativity in the global market, connects research and business and familiarises university elites with companies’ high standards at an early stage. In cooperation with leading universities, RTT offers internships, participates in supervising theses and passes its practical experience in virtual prototyping and virtual marketing on to emerging talent. This makes it easier for tomorrow’s professionals to enter the professional world of digital image and film production, while companies gain access to highly qualified specialists more quickly and efficiently – a benefit for both sides in achieving outstanding visual performance in the global market of the future.
