Tom Misner, founder of SAE Institute and music producer, is coming to Germany. Together with Jochen Müller (Engineer Studios 301), he is launching a worldwide masterclass tour exclusively for SAE students. Tom Misner will provide insights into commercial music production from today’s perspective and allow attendees to watch him work live in the studio. The German leg of the masterclass tour begins on March 27 at SAE Institute Frankfurt. Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne and Munich follow at short intervals. In recent years, the masterclass tour has brought many international celebrities to the German SAE locations, including Alan Parsons, who had already worked with the Beatles and Pink Floyd and was also successful as an artist with the Alan Parsons Project.
Each SAE Masterclass is held as a 2.5-hour workshop. At the beginning of the event, Tom Misner and Jochen Müller analyse the Bee Gees classic “Staying Alive” and use this example to illustrate how a successful track was produced around 25 years ago. A current song is then produced from scratch. The intention is to show participants which soft skills are necessary to produce a hit. Among other things, the interaction between producer and sound engineer is of central importance. After the workshop, the sound files will be made available to participants. They can use them afterwards to put what they have heard into practice once again.
