MAXON, manufacturer of the leading CINEMA 4D solution for 3D modelling, painting, animation and rendering, today announces the acquisition of the Python connection Py4D. A strategic cooperation with Py4D manufacturer Tuningchannel had already been announced at the end of 2009. Py4D programmer Sebastian Rath will now be responsible at MAXON for connecting Python to future versions of CINEMA 4D.
Py4D expands CINEMA 4D with an interface to the Python programming language, thereby offering all users of MAXON’s 3D package another simple way to expand the software with their own customised functions. Python is a powerful programming language that is relatively easy to learn. The unique combination of ease of use and power enables Python to be used across a broad spectrum of different development fields. A special feature is the numerous scripts and libraries that are available free of charge and can be incorporated into users’ own projects. With the help of Python, even different applications can exchange data or information with one another. Numerous well-known production houses already use Python extensively.
Harald Schneider, Technical Managing Director and co-founder of MAXON, emphasised: “With the Python connection for our products, we want to give users as well as developers the opportunity to add their own functionality as easily as possible. Python is the most flexible and best way to do this.”
Until Py4D is fully integrated into CINEMA 4D, the current beta version, a discussion forum and further supporting material are available at http://www.py4d.com.
