Rising player numbers and their influence on industry growth demonstrate that social games are becoming increasingly important. Lloyd Melnick is one of the experts addressing this topic at the international GAMES CONVENTION ONLINE (GCO) trade fair.
In his talk entitled “Pivoting to Social Media,” he will discuss the possibilities in the social-media landscape. In particular, he explains how developers of MMO, core and casual games can benefit from social games.
Lloyd Melnick is General Manager and responsible for all European activities of Playdom Inc., the world’s second-largest social-games company. His responsibilities include the international distribution of the company’s products. His talk is part of the Social Games lecture series within the GCO Business Talks.
“Strategically, GCO is a very important event for Playdom. We are using it as one of the key hubs for our plan to strengthen the presence of our games in Europe significantly and to find first-class games for us to publish worldwide,” says Lloyd Melnick.
Alongside Playdom, Mücke, Sturm & Company, the leading management consultancy in the German-speaking TIME market (telecommunications, information technology and media), will give a talk on social games. Under the title “Social Games – a Trend and a Gold Mine,” Achim Himmelreich, Manager at MS&C, provides insight into social-games trends based on the latest studies. He explains what benefits this trend can bring the industry, how profitable the social-gaming sector is and what developments can be expected in the coming months.
“Social online games are the fastest-growing segment in the games sector. GCO is almost the only flagship event at which this dynamic segment takes centre stage,” says Achim Himmelreich, Manager at MS&C.
The Business Talks take place at the Congress Center Leipzig (CCL) on the Leipzig trade-fair grounds. Trade visitors pay 60 euros per day for the Business Forum, including all Business Talks, and 150 euros for a full-event pass.
GCO takes place from July 8 to 10 at the Congress Center Leipzig (CCL) in Leipzig.
