It opens up new workflows for VENUE users by simplifying the integration of VENUE into any MADI environment, such as concert halls, broadcast studios or other fixed installations, through use of the industry-standard MADI protocol.
With the card installed, VENUE users can transfer up to 64 audio channels from their VENUE system to a wide range of MADI devices, such as routers, digital mixing consoles or mobile recording systems, and vice versa. According to Avid, customers can now also implement more complex workflows that would normally require the use of a patchbay without difficulty.
Avid adds that the MADI expansion card is available now and can easily be installed in any free expansion slot in an FOH Rack or Mix Rack.
According to its own information, Avid has also released a new VENUE D-Show 2.8.5 software update with numerous system improvements, available as a free download to all D-Show 2.8.x users. This software offers MADI-card users two new modes: MADI Input and MADI Virtual Soundcheck allow them to switch easily between MADI signals and stage inputs and conduct virtual soundchecks without repatching.
