The 32- and 64-bit versions of Vegas Pro 10 offer tools for editing 3D material, among other things. The software also includes new functions for captions, expanded video and audio effects, a more efficient workflow and an improved user interface.
The 3D-editing functions are likely to represent the new main feature. Without additional tools or plug-ins, users can import, adjust, edit, view and export stereoscopic data. The anaglyph view is intended to enable previewing 3D material on any monitor.
Caption support has been improved for checking text in the preview and trimmer windows. In addition, Line 21 captions, HD-SDI captions and the integration of various caption files are possible with Vegas Pro 10, as is exporting captions for use with Sony DVD Architect, YouTube, RealPlayer, QuickTime and Windows Media Player.
The editing and preview functions support the simultaneous display of multicam source files with the full-screen final version. Editing DSLR video has also been accelerated, track grouping provides a clear overview, and the integrated stabilisation tool corrects shaky recordings.
Vegas Pro 10 offers a completely new plug-in architecture for video effects based on the Open Effects Association standard. An SDK is also available for the plug-in architecture.
Vegas Pro 10 costs around 700 US dollars; the update is available for 250 US dolars.
