Avid announces Pro Tools software version 9. Thanks to a new system architecture, it opens up new possibilities: working with Avid audio interfaces, interfaces from other manufacturers or entirely without hardware, using the audio functions integrated into the Mac or PC. And here, too, the purchase of Euphonix bears fruit. In addition, thanks to EUCON, Avid’s open Ethernet protocol, the selection of supported control surfaces and mixing consoles has been expanded to include the audio consoles and controllers from Avid’s Artist Series and Pro Series (formerly Euphonix).
This therefore results in diverse options and significantly more open workflows.
Avid has also responded to customer suggestions and incorporated numerous add-ons:
- Automatic delay compensation
- More audio tracks and buses
- Expanded production toolset
Many other features accompany version 9, including:
- OMF/AAF/MXF interchange and MP3 export
- Integrated timecode ruler
- Updated 7.1 surround panner
- New variable stereo pan depths

The new version 9 of Pro Tools and Pro Tools HD software is available worldwide from November 12, 2010. Prices start at €606.90 (RRP incl. VAT).
