Newtek has now presented Lightwave 10 in its final version. The new functions first introduced in Lightwave CORE are now available to all users. With version 10, the View Renderer has now arrived, enabling direct interaction with textures, volumetric objects, light and stereoscopic settings without having to recalculate everything constantly.
To improve the results, Newtek has given version 10 an anaglyph stereo component including preview, as well as a linear colour-space workflow, which now improves realism when working with LUTs and is also intended to improve compositing.
With a new interface and expanded import and export functions, Lightwave aims to establish itself as more user-friendly and team-capable – MDD, Autodesk, FBX and Collada data can now be saved into and out of Lightwave. The “Virtual Studio Tools” now work with the InterSense Virtual Camera Tracking System (VCam) and 3Dconnexion 3D mice, enabling completely new navigation in space. Lightwave 10 costs US$495 as an upgrade; a full licence costs US$895.
