The Digital Dailies tool, with which all branches will be equipped, is said to be maximally compatible with the latest developments in digital cinematography such as ARRI Alexa and RED ONE M-X and to reduce the processing time for dailies. According to company information, two UFA Cinema GmbH productions, “No Man’s Land” and “In the Year of the Dog”, are already being processed with OSD. Both films are shooting on ARRI Alexa in Camera Log C with Apple ProRes.
The On-Set Dailies system will be used primarily to optimise the dailies workflow, says Ivar Beer of CinePostproduction. Several simultaneous outputs rendered faster than real time. It made no difference whether the source material was 16mm, 35mm, ProRes or RAW. In addition, colour correction was easy to use. With automatic sound creation, the properties for stereo 3D films were especially impressive, Beer continues. The system could also be taken to the set in CinePostproduction’s Colormog to support the teams on location.
