Sony released version 11 of its Vegas Pro software two days ago. Contrary to earlier announcements, the editing software for content creation does not offer all that many innovative new features, but it does provide some practical updates.

GPU performance in particular is said to have been improved, and Sony Vegas Pro 11 is therefore now intended to offer a faster workflow for AMD and NVIDIA devices that support OpenCL. Video editing and rendering tasks with effects are to become more effective and less time-consuming through the GPU-supported system.

According to Sony, stereoscopic 3D media can now also be imported and adjusted, as well as previewed and output in single or dual files with encoding side by side, one above the other, or in alternating lines.

In addition, Vegas Pro 11 is said to offer native support for the XDCAM, NXCAM, AVCHD and RED camcorder formats and for photos with a resolution of more than one gigapixel. In the audio area, control with a mixing console is intended to provide the option of more precise sound control.
