Panasonic has only just announced an official firmware update for the GH2, and the GH2 hack in version 3.63d is already available.
The new hack tool brings interesting time-lapse possibilities for the GH2, because the frame rate can be freely set in MJPEG film mode, thus allowing long-term recordings with only one frame per second.

Although this version of the recording is said to have a lower resolution than shutter recordings, the shutter tends to stop functioning during time-lapse recordings and 50,000 to 70,000 operations; in this way, the shutter can be spared and time-lapse films produced more cheaply.
In addition, the ISO limit of 3200 in video mode has been removed; from now on it is intended to be possible to set up to ISO 12,800. In our current issue of DIGITAL PRODUCTION 06/11, you can find a test of the GH2 hack in version 3.62d)
