Adobe’s newly presented subscription model, in which software is now only rented for Different periods – called "Adobe Creative Cloud" – is bringing a breath of fresh air to the software industry. Instead of purchasing expensive "Perpetual Licences" – that is, perpetually valid licenses – for software in a specific version, the respective current versions are rented here for periods of time.
This includes all parts of the various Adobe portfolios, from touch applications through Photoshop to Premiere and After Effects. With membership in Adobe’s Creative Cloud, an annual subscription costs approximately 50 US dollars per month for individuals and 70 US dollars per workstation. During this time, you receive all updates, upgrades and new versions.
However, anyone who only updates every few years – for example because the various versions are deeply integrated into the workflow, or anyone who does not have the time/resources to regularly adapt their second- and third-party software and set the options again – will in future only be able to upgrade from the previous version; the price scale according to versions will probably be discontinued.
