The VFX studio Platige Image with "Paths of Hate" and Pixar Animation Studios with "La Luna" are among the lucky candidates for the ceremony on February 26 at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles.
Director Damian Nenow of Platige Image presented the making of "Path of Hate", which deals with the bloody paths of blind hatred, at this year’s animago AWARD & CONFERENCE. In this work, two pilots fight a cruel battle in war that is visually successful. "Paths of Hate" has already taken a successful path at other festivals in 2011; among other things, the animated film has already won at the Dallas Film Festival and the European Independent Film Festival. The golden boy "Oscar" would now be a crowning conclusion for Platige Image.
"La Luna" by Enrico Casarosa, on the other hand, addresses a very different story. A small boy gets caught in a generational dispute with his father and grandfather during a fishing trip, but discovers the beauty of the moon in the process. "La Luna" is the supporting film for the latest Pixar Animation Studios film "Brave".
