JVC presented this camera at this year’s CES – the 4K camcorder is intended to have a resolution of 3840×2160 with frame rates of 24p, 50p and 60p. In parallel with 4K, however, the camera can also film HD in 1080i and 1080/60p. According to JVC, the camcorder is equipped with a Falconbrid LSI processor and a ½-inch CMOS sensor with a resolution of 8.3 megapixels. RAW data is intended to be processable in real time. Four HDMI outputs are intended to be required in parallel for the real-time 4K stream, but it is also intended to be possible to crop down to HD resolution.
The camera is intended to store the data in parallel on four SDHC/SDXC cards. According to JVC, the lens has a 10x zoom as well as an optical image stabilizer, a light sensitivity of F2.8 and a wide angle of 42.5 mm. The camcorder is intended to have a viewfinder as well as a folding 3.5-inch touch LCD display for operation.
Audio
In addition to the stereo microphone, the JVC GY-HMQ10 camcorder is intended to have two XLR inputs, and a microphone holder is also intended to be included in the equipment. The display is intended to show the audio level and make manual audio control possible. Manual control is also intended to be possible for focus, aperture, shutter, color matrix and white balance.
JVC is also said to be planning an expansion of the 4K products; a 4K projector has already been available since September for just under 10,000 euros.
