As promised in the original release plan, the updates are arriving relatively regularly, approximately every 3 months. in Cupertino, version 10.0.3 has now been delivered and is available as a free update in the App Store.
Multicam
The most important new feature is likely to be multicam, which can be used to assemble a clip from various media and sources. Apple promises that different recordings can be synchronized using markers, timecode or audio information. Allegedly, all formats (both codecs and frame rates as well as frame sizes) are supported without recoding, including within a clip.
Anyone who is not working alone on a project can now (again) incorporate updated files using Media Relink. Furthermore, Photoshop files with layers are now also supported, allowing a single compound clip to bring all adjustments into the timeline. Another explosive upgrade – in the targeted professional league – is the export and import of XML files, for example into Davinci Resolve, and the adoption of the Work done there. Apple on this: "This improved XML support saves time and reduces creative rework when moving projects and media between applications."
Monitor
The sorely missed output to additional monitors is in the beta phase. Waveform monitors or broadcast monitors can be connected and supplied via PCIe cards or Thunderbolt I/O. However, as mentioned, this function is still in the beta phase, and the first manufacturers are said to Support it – such as AJA – but information here is still thin.
