The VES Awards were presented for the tenth time in 23 categories for outstanding VFX achievements in film, animation, TV, advertising and games. "Rango", with four prizes, was the most highly awarded project. It received an award for the best visual effects as well as the best animated character in an animated film. The environment and virtual cinematography of the chameleon film also received an award.
Three films form the group of runners-up, each with two awards in the feature-film categories: Scorsese’s "Hugo", "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" and "Transformers – Dark of the Moon".
For the jury, "Hugo" was the best film in the categories "Supporting Visual Effects" and "Virtual Cinematography in a Live Action":
The Transformers robots received an award for the best models and the environment:
"Animated Character in a Live Action Feature" and "Visual Effects in a Visual Effects-Driven Feature" were the categories that the apes were able to claim:
In the TV area, the Canal+ bear secured the award in the category"Outstanding Animated Character in a Broadcast Program or Commercial":
"Games of Thrones" and "Boardwalk Empire" also received two awards in the catgories of the TV area:
