As with the previous products, a great deal was optimized to give performance a proper polish. To make the production process more convenient, from Version 2013 onward live motion-capture data can be recorded directly to the hard drive instead of first to memory. These recorded data are also located in the timeline and can be edited directly.
Another practical solution that was integrated is that audio data can now be adapted to the animation data. In the new version, the Story timeline namely allows audio timing. Fittingly, after a long wait, broadcast-quality WAVE files are supported and can be imported without problems.
Anyone who wants to edit several layers or tracks simultaneously is also offered a helpful function. “Story Clip Grouping” is the magic phrase describing the function that can group a wide variety of tracks and edit them in one go.
The HUD (Heads Up Display) brings metadata into the viewport in real time, and individual windows can be detached and moved to an additional monitor. A new mode names “Z-Depth Selection” gives users the flexibility to select objects behind a transparent material, and a new SDI broadcast video signal is now available for a final output signal.
