The EOS-1D C is therefore the first DSLR to combine its own form factor and mobility with 4K video. The 8-bit Motion JPEG compression is recorded at 24p, while frame rates up to 1080/60p are available for Full HD video at 1920 x 1080 pixels. And via HDMI, an uncompressed YCbCr 4:2:2 video signal (up to Full HD)can be captured.
Canon Log Gamma was intended to provide professional dynamic range and remain usable in postproduction. Based on the EOS-1D X, the 1D C offers an 18.1-megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor, although the image circle is likely to be limited to APS-H size when filming—and recording can therefore take place without scaling. A Super 35-millimeter crop is also possible for Full HD. ISO sensitivity in video mode of up to ISO 25600, frame rates of 24, 25, 30, 50, and 60p (in FullHD), timecode, and multiple compression methods were intended to secure the EOS1 C a permanent place in the world’s video productions—when it becomes available. The EOS-1D C was targeted for retail from late summer 2012; a price had not yet been determined.
