The scope of the collaboration is relatively large. According to Digital Domain Media Group, several studios will be opened for animation, special effects, and motion capture. In addition, there will be an educational institution called Digital Domain Institute Media School, which will be built strictly on the model of the Digital Domain Institute in West Palm Beach so that future employees can be trained in the latest technologies. The first courses are expected to begin in spring 2014.
The animation and special-effects productions, in turn, are expected to start as early as the beginning of 2013, and the employees required for them will be recruited nationally and internationally. The goal, according to twofour54, is to create a specially constructed production complex covering 14,000 square meters with 500 employees by 2015, specializing in the production of state-of-the-art material.
The background to this collaboration is that the Emirates hope not only to establish twofour54 as a center for high-quality local productions and continue promoting national talent through knowledge, but also to become an integral part of the worldwide production chain for feature films, animation, and VFX.
