The FFA study entitled "Structure of Cinema Auditoriums in the Federal Republic of Germany 2003 to 2011" arrived at this result. In the course of the 3D trend, 21 percent of the digitization measures are said to have been carried out in 2011 alone. Meanwhile, almost every third screen in Germany is also 3D-capable.
And the trend toward digitization in cinema auditoriums points sharply upward: in the next two years, cinema operators want to have converted 78 percent of screens to digital film projection. Then only about every fifth screen will not have been converted. Despite the funding from the FFA, the federal government, and the federal states that is provided for digitization, some cinema operators do not see themselves as able to shoulder the high costs of this modernization measure in their cinema.
