For this reason, developer Rich Diamant also renamed the Maya plug-in from Diamant UV to Diamant Modeling Tool 1.0. In the first release, the UV tool is intended to be a fully integrated Automatic UV Mapper and Editor for Maya, as well as an additional suite of modeling tools said to have been designed specifically for everyday production.
Features of release 1.0 include Selection Brushes for UV edges and Ancor Marking, as well as brushes in the style of ZBrush and Mudbox, automatic UV mapping, a UV editor with Color Distortion, and Maya UV Editing Tools. More information about the features is available here: http://rd3d.com
According to the developer, the Diamant Modeling Tool is already being used at well-known game-development studios, such as Naughty Dog or Blizzard Entertainment. So far, the tool supports only Windows and Maya 2011, 2012, 2013 x64, and Maya 2011 SP1, 2012 SP1, 2013 x32. After registration, the tool is available for 199 dollars – students can receive special discounts on the software after contacting the developer. A modeling and a UV demo video are available here.
