On the Viscorbel portal, a member named Austris shows four different methods by which artists can quickly create 3D carpets for their projects. The first method discussed is based on the use of VRay Displacement. The second method is intended to show the artist how to use VRayFur skillfully, although according to Austris the configuration options are very limited.

For an extremely realistic-looking appearance, Austris recommends using the Hair and Fur modifier. In addition to numerous configuration options, the appearance is also said to come close to that of a real carpet. Finally, Austris takes an unconventional route by using the ForestPro plug-in. Here he also recommends the use of other plug-ins that affect geometry in the same way.
