Grass Valley now offers a shortened version of the Edius editing software and has named it Edius Express. According to Grass Valley, the new version is aimed at newcomers to video editing and has basic tools for real-time editing of footage in formats such as DSLR H.264 data or AVCHD as well as HDV datasets. In contrast to other products in the Edius range, Edius Express is in the lowest price segment at EUR 47.50 including VAT. In addition, the software is available only as a download from the Grass Valley homepage.
The scope of functions in Edius Express reflects the low price. According to Grass Valley, the basic functions include real-time editing of footage (1080p50/60) on an unlimited number of audio, video, title, and graphics tracks. A QuickTitler module was implemented for creating titles, and there are also HD/SD effects – though they are severely limited.
The projects can be opened in Edius 6.5 as well as Neo for further editing. Furthermore, an update to a Pro version is possible at any time. All detailed information and purchasing information is available on the official Grass Valey homepage.
