No peace around "Star Wars" – after the news that Lucasfilm now wears Mickey Mouse ears and that J.J. Abrams, after "Star Trek", may also equip the spaceship world of "Star Wars" with lens flares in the seventh film, now comes the next piece of bad news: after "Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace" had a rather unsuccessful run as a 3D version, Disney no longer seems to want to back this horse. "Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones 3D" was originally intended to open in Germany on 19 September 2013, followed by "Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith 3D" on 10 October.
Whether and when the 3D release will now take place is more than uncertain. The official explanation on starwars.com is that Disney would rather concentrate all its energy on the sequel with J.J. Abrams to give fans the best experience. Further information about the 3D release plans was to follow later.
Star Wars fans will eagerly await the new J.J.Abrams lens-flare fireworks in the form of "Star Wars: Episode VII" and the answer to the decisive question that remained unanswered: "3D or not 3D?"
