Designed for film, television and high-resolution video productions, according to Canon the EOS-1D C is the world’s first DSLR camera with 4K video recording. The EOS-1D C records 4K video at 4,096 x 2,160 pixels using 8-bit Motion JPEG compression.
The specification upgrade is said to have been developed based on feedback from the European professional video community. The April upgrade was then also intended to make downscaling to HD easier for Europe-friendly frame rates.
