Who would not sometimes like to undo what has already happened? According to developer Marius Silaghi, the Subd Recovery software can recover the exact topology, geometry and UVs of a mesh from an earlier subdivision level. The tool can therefore be used, for example, when you want to return a subdivided model to its original form. Or when a subdivided model created in another 3D application is now to be imported into your own software.
Other features of Subd Recovery include, for example, allowing purchased subdivided models to be made ready for editing again by reconstructing the first subdivision level. And if the artist has to take their model apart at one stage of the production process, they can then use Subd Recovery to restore the subdivision level.
The application is intended to be usable with all 3D tools and is compatible with Windows XP, Vista, 7 and 8. Models in the .obj file format can be edited with Subd Recovery.
