In future, Arri and Trixter will jointly be available to animation producers as co-producers and worldwide distribution partners. Arri will contribute the broad postproduction offering of Arri Media Services, while Trixter will contribute the experience of its VFX and animation studios at the Munich, Berlin and Los Angeles locations as well as many years of co-production experience.
The first joint project, “Ploe”, is an adventure for the whole family about a young golden plover. The production is being realised with the Icelandic animation company GunHil. And in this context, the choice of protagonist makes sense again: the golden plover, or European Golden Plover, is a bird species that breeds primarily in Iceland. But the golden plover is also found in upland moors in Great Britain and. American families are familiar with the American Golden Plover – so the English-speaking audience is covered.
The animation studio GunHil developed the story about the young bird, which misses the chance to migrate to warmer climes with its family. This brings all kinds of problemes that it can overcome with the help of friends.
Ploe was presented at Cartoon Movie last Friday (8.3.13) and is to be offered to international cinema distributors at the Cannes Film Festival (Marché du Film) this year. Production is planned to begin in early 2014.
