It is unclear how long the app, which previously cost 25 dollars, will remain available as a free download, so anyone interested should act quickly. ProCutX is an app developed by Pixel Film Studios that requires Mac OS X 10.7 or 10.8 and Final Cut Pro X.
The touchpad buttons provide direct access to many functions as a replacement for keyboard shortcuts. The central jog wheel enables rapid scrubbing through clips. The app is not said to work one hunderd percent reliably, but as a free gimmick you can try it and form your own judgement.
