Driving a Car with Element 3D

Andrew Kramer of Video Copilot shows how to create a simple car rig system in After Effects using Element 3D.

According to Kramer, this rig system allows the steering and suspension to be animated with a quick setup. The technique presented in this tutorial is said to work well for almost any 3D vehicle. 

Another tutorial with an improved rig is expected to appear on Video Copilot this month, for which understanding this initial setup is important. The shadows in this scene were not created realistically; the artist only used a black body with feather masking.
