DuctTake could soon make elaborate compositing work a thing of the past: the tool is intended to allow image sections from different recordings to be selected with rough strokes. The tool’s algorithm then independently determines the optimal image areas, and the two clips with two objects can be joined seamlessly into one video.

According to the development team, differences between the two sets of image material are balanced by the system so that the visual transition between the two image sources becomes invisible. The application examples in the video material published by Disney Research were created in under 15 minutes.
