Corona Renderer is a renderer for photorealistic work that has been developed by Ondra Karlik since 2009. Because the current Alpha 5 version is not yet stable, the renderer remains under development. The full version is then intended to be paid software.
Features of Corona Renderes include rendering with path and light tracing as well as vertex connection and merging. The renderer also offers Physical Sun & Sky, area lights, IES light profiles, fast geometric lights and physically correct depth-of-field and motion-blur simulation.
To download Corona Renderer as a plug-in for 3ds Max or as standalone software during the alpha test phase, users must first create an account on the corona-renderer.com website and thereby register in the associated forum.
The renderer is intended to support other software packages in future, and a version for Cinema 4D is already under development. The developer’s further plans include expanding Corona Renderes with features such as interactive rendering and an improved user interface.
