We too have already looked at the small Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera in the current DP issue 04/13. Weighing 355 grams and measuring 13 centimetres wide, the camera really is trouser-pocket compatible and is intended to offer HD recordings in 422 ProRes or 12-bit Raw in CinemaDNG. According to Blackmagic, it also has a Super 16-format sensor and 13 stops of dynamic range. The 3.5" LCD display can be used to monitor recordings and enter metadata.
The handy Pocket camera is intended to bring a cinema look to the most remote locations and is therefore particularly suitable for documentary, adventure or indie filmmakers. The price of the Pocket Cinema Camera is also affordable for this target group; at 945 euros, the model is a genuine challenge to the competition.
