To promote the launch of "Halo 4", Microsoft produced the five-part mini-series "Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn" and, together with Machinima.com and 343 Industries, commissioned the two studios Polynoid and Blacklist to create the 3D-animated opening-title sequence. Polynoid’s title design received special attention for the 65th Emmy Awards.
Polynoid was founded in 2007 by former Filmakademie students Jan Bitzer, Ilija Brunck, Csaba Letay, Fabian Pross and Tom Weber. Starting with its first short film, »458nm«, the Polynoid studio has since produced numerous outstanding 3D computer animations for international clients such as MTV, Lenovo and Nike, as well as music artists such as the Berlin production team Mouse On Mars. Alongside its commercial work, Polynoid is internationally known for its short films, which have won awards at all major animation festivals worldwide.
In the current DP issue 05/13, we took a look behind the scenes at Polynoid, and Fabian Pross spoke in an interview about everyday life at the young and talented VFX studio.
