Musical chairs: Digital Domain has been sold again following its insolvency in 2012. The new owner is Sun Innovation, a holding company from Hong Kong. Because the company bought Galloping Horse, which held a 70 percent stake in Digital Domain, this stake also passed into its ownership. The remaining 30 percent of the studio still belongs to Reliance Media Works of India.
This new owner brings another decisive change: Ed Ulbrich, who had belonged to the company since Digital Domain was founded by James Cameron, Scott Ross and Stan Winston in 1993, has stepped down as CEO and is now Creative Consultant. The new CEO is Daniel Seah, an executive at Sun Innovation.
