Not Filmpark Babelsberg, nor the Bavaria site: Sony is drawn to the traditional British studios where all the greats regularly pass through. Whether Bond films or elaborate sets for "Prince of Persia", almost every press booklet for a major blockbuster eventually mentions that parts were filmed at Pinewood Studios.
Sony has therefore chosen a fine setting for its DMPC. According to the company, it will demonstrate its product range there and also explain current workflows. In addition, the location is intended to serve the film industry as a resource centre for training. The exchange is also intended to work in the other direction, because this provides first-hand knowledge of where users are feeling the pinch.
The official start of operations is not announced until September. A small impression of how this might work can be gained from the DMPC in Los Angeles.
