Thirteen episodes and around 1,000 VFX shots meant quite a bit of work for the Canadian studio: Characters had to be aged and rejuvenated, the technology of the year 2077, with everything that entails, had to be visualized, many futuristic vehicles and a complete full-CG train had to be created.
The series finale also represented one of the highlights for the VFX work: A digitally extended fight scene, a large part of which takes place in a CG elevator shaft, had to be designed.
Artifex Studios’ portfolio includes feature films such as "The Possession" and "Piranha 3DD". They are currently looking for a Pipeline TD, so anyone who would like to go to Vancouver for a while should take a look at the studio’s website. Incidentally, in the current DP issue we have an article by artist Keywan Mahintorabi about living and working in Vancouver, which would be the best preparation before starting a job.
