Dual Pixel CMOS AF functionality, or DAF for short, was developed by Canon and introduced for the first time in the Canon EOS 70D model. For film cameras with large sensors, this functionality is intended to expand creative possibilities through fast and continuous automatic focusing.
The Canon EOS C100 is the first camera in Canon’s range that is intended to be equipped with this technology after an upgrade. Since Canon designed the EOS C100 for film shoots with one-person operation, DAF is intended to bring greater precision and control when focusing during filming.
The upgrade will be subject to a fee and will use the existing Super 35-millimeter sensor in the EOS C100. It is expected to be available in the first quarter of 2014 and carried out by one of the Canon Regional Competence Centres (RCC).
