Sony’s Dream of Blossoms

“For me, it should rain petals,” Sony apparently thought. To launch its 4K Ultra HD television, the company made this dream come true for a TV spot.

To illustrate that Sony’s new 4K television displays details particularly well and brings Ultra HD resolution into the living room at home, Sony shot a TV spot in 4K resolution. An estimated 8 million petals, weighing around 3 tons, were used.

According to the company, no digital effects were used. Since such decadence with blossoms might bring waste to mind, Sony emphasized the regional nature and biodegradability of the petals it used.

Filming took place at Irazu Volcano in Costa Rica, directed by Jaron Albertin.
