What does the new version offer? For one thing, the compositing features have been polished. Improved support for alpha output and a new shadow-catcher rendering mode that makes it possible to render product visualizations particularly quickly. Alpha export with glass objects is now said to work better, especially when dealing with glass facades.
Several new material types are now available for designing surfaces of all kinds. Coating Material can be used to finish surfaces once again with a thin film. This can make surfaces shine or make concrete look as though it has just had a brief rain shower.
With Double-sided Thin Material, the green modeling thumb can be used to the full. Light now reflects realistically along a blade of grass, and the light transmission also adapts to the thickness of the blades.
Other new features include the now available Spherical Camera and improved 3ds Max integration. An overview of all new features can be found here.
There is still a release sale until December 13. Indigo Renderer is then available for 445 euros (regular price 595 euros), and Indigo RT costs only 99 euros instead of 145 euros during this period.
