One reason for this layoff, which affects around 60 people out of a workforce of 1,200 employees, is said to be the difficulties with the project "The Good Dinosaur". After director Bob Peterson—according to Pixar, due to creative differences—already left the project in August and the theatrical release was postponed to 2015, the project still seems to be under an unlucky star. Nevertheless, here is a first-look teaser trailer to bridge the time until 2015

For DP, on the other hand, the considerable delay to the film’s release had a positive aspect at the animago AWARD & CONFERENCE: Because lighting artist Erik Smitt of Pixar had received an extended vacation at short notice due to the project delay of "The Good Dinosaur" and was able both to give an interesting and extremely well-attended lighting presentation and to spend around three hours giving young talents and interested attendees feedback on their work and showreels during our portfolio review.

Not far from the Pixar building, President Obama also gave his economy speech at DreamWorks yesterday and was shown around the studio facility by DreamWorks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg. At the same time, protests by VFX artists took place outside the premises to draw attention to the current situation in the VFX industry and the sellout to other countries.
