Version 10.1 has been upgraded with additional editing functions. Among other things, these allow users to view and align multiple camera takes in the preview during editing. This allows the user to switch back and forth between takes and show clients options for shots in real time directly in the timeline. Editors can now simply copy individual clips to the editing timeline via drag & drop.
Expanded editing tools support, for example, trimming frame-based clips such as DNG and DPX, which saves time when transferring clips. Rich-text titling is now also supported, and the size, position and color of individual characters can now be adjusted directly from the “Edit” page.
DaVinci Resolve 10.1 also features expanded options for importing XML files for users of FCP X 10.1 and FCP 7. Compound clips assembled in FCP X 10.1 with separate A/V elements are now split into individual clips.
FCP 7 XML files now contain font properties and timeline markers, and can include size, crop and composition parameters. Image-framing adjustments made in the final editing round in Final Cut Pro can now be translated more precisely into the DaVinci Resolve timeline.
Users who own a full DaVinci Resolve software license receive expanded stereo 3D tools, including a timeline for full stereoscopic editing on multiple tracks, improved convergence adjustment and automatic alignment.
