For animation import, Octane now supports the Alembic file format. Otoy presented the .ORBX format for the first time at the Game Developer Conference 2014. In addition, the scripting capabilities in Octane have been improved and a time slider has been added so that animated geometries and camera data can be loaded without loss.
In version 1.50, grouping nodes is intended to be easier and complex node setups can be hidden. Another feature is "Object Visibility Properties"; with this function, the visibility of an object to the camera can be defined. Octane 1.50 also adds shadow-casting options and new texture-transforming options with border rendering.
For licensed users, the new release will soon be available free of charge in the download area. You can find all further information here.
For anyone who does not yet own OctaneRender, the standalone version is available here; prices start at 199 euros and it is available for all three operating systems.
