What’s New in SpeedGrade

At NAB, Adobe also presented improvements for SpeedGrade. Right at the forefront: the Direct Link workflow has been expanded further.

A key feature of the upcoming update is an improved Direct Link workflow. Switching adjustment layers on and off enables a fast workflow between Premiere Pro and SpeedGrade—and is finally possible in the new release. According to Adobe, one click on the eye icon on each track is enough. This allows tracks to be revealed or hidden.

Lumetrie Effect Control has also found its way into the new version. This treats every grading layer stack like a Lumetrie effect. The new feature works just as it does in the Premiere Pro FX Control Panel. You can therefore use Lumetri FX even if it was switched off in Premiere—which saves a lot of time. To make it easier to see whether the grading controls are active or not, an indicator has been added to the grading interface.

SpeedGrade also automatically activates the Mercury Playback Engine (GPU Acceleration). In the new version, CPU processing can be switched on manually if required. Further improvements: the Premiere Pro Master Clip Effect is now also available in SpeedGrade, and the Broadcast Standad Scopes have been revised. The Look Manager has also been improved.
