Using Vegas Pro Connect, metadata or notes can be added to the project via iPad and the review or management can be carried out. When filming with Sony’s XDCAM video system, users are expected to be able to send proxies to the cloud using the Sony Wireless Camera Adapter. After downloading and editing the proxies, the high-resolution files can subsequently be relinked.
An archiving function will also be added, allowing all data belonging to the project to be archived together or, alternatively, only the media used in the timeline. Render times when using XAVC Intra MXF templates are also expected to be considerably reduced.
The loudness display now works with the new EBU R-128/CALM standard, and a pop-up menu shows the most frequently used commands and tools. On the plug-in side, Sony has added seven dynamic video effects from FXhome and NewBlueFX Video Essentials VI with ten plug-ins containing 100 presets, as well as iZotope Nectar Elements, which supports speech processing for voice-overs, among other things.
According to Sony, Vegas Pro 13 will be available in three versions:
Vegas Pro 13 Edit – Video and Audio Production: In addition to the Vegas Pro 13 application, this package also includes Vegas Pro Connect compatibility, the FXhome plug-ins and the CALM loudness meters. This version costs US$399.95.
Vegas Pro 13 – Video, Audio and Blu-ray Disc Creation: This version includes DVD Architect Pro 6, the Dolby Digital Professional Encoder, NewBlueFX Video Essentials VI and iZotope Nectar Elements; it costs US$599.95.
Vegas Pro 13 Suite – Editing, Disc Authoring and Visual Effects: In addition to the core application, this includes Sound Forge Pro 11, DVD Architect Pro 6, HitFilm 2 Ultimate Dolby Digital Professional Encoder, the Video Essentials VI plug-in collection from NewBlueFX, the iZotope Nectar Elements Voice/Narration Processing plug-in, 100 sound effects from Blastwave FX and 25 royalty-free sound series on top. The suite is available for 799.95 euros.
The digital downloads are expected to be available from April 17 and the physical packages from May 5. All further information is available here.
