While the small Ninja Star, weighing 100 grams and without a display, will be available for around 219 euros, Shogun serves the other end of the price segment. According to the list price, the 4K recorder is expected to cost 2,000 US dollars and be available in stores from the fourth quarter of 2014. But Videodata, for example, has already added the Atomos Shogun to its range for 1,725.50 euros gross.
Shogun has a 7-inch display and can be connected to cameras with 4K HDMI output, such as Sony’s new A7S. Its resolution is 1,920×1,200 pixels, and it records in uncompressed Cinema DNG, ProRes, or DNxHD. Further information is available from the manufacturer, Atomos.
