The jump to version 12 brings extensive new features for users. New “bins” make organisation easier. The “Smart Play Engine” has also been improved.

The new features of the editing program include the improved performance of the Smart Play Engine. The software can now automatically recognise material and automatically adjusts the project settings, which brings a significant increase in speed.

A Content Manager is being introduced for the first time in version 12. Easier handling of clips, edits, bins and search queries is promised through a clearly designed window. The effects for colour correction have also been optimised with regard to clarity by combining previously separate effects. With the availability of Lightworks on the Mac, ProRes encoding is now included, among other things.

Further information about the new features can be found here. The software is available in a free version and at reasonable prices in a Pro version, for which you pay either 19.99 euros per month or 134.99 euros per year. Further information about prices and availability can be found here.

Incidentally, in the next issues 7/2014 and 1/2015 we have a large two-part Lightworks workshop.
