We will probably still remember the times when it was said that the uncanny valley could likely never be overcome. And after the much-criticised The Polar Express back then, it still seemed like a long way to go. Nvidia’s "Digital Ira" project – see below – already looked significantly better.
Here is another example of photorealistic facial animation. The Australian freelancer worked with Lightwave, Sculptris, Krita and Davinci Resolve Lite. He has compiled further tests on his website.
