The company Cebas has released a trial version of the 3ds Max plug-in for particle animations. This means the current version 6 can be tried out free of charge.

Compared with the full version, the trial version naturally has some restrictions, such as no rendering or export options. In addition, meshes can only be created in the viewport display and complex materials can only be displayed in the viewport. The particle and physics simulation caching functions are also unavailable, and there is no save option for thinkingParticles and Black Boxes. Furthermore, the scripting functions are completely switched off in the trial version.

Although the usual 30-day trial version of the particle tool had previously been available, Cebas believes that the application cannot be learned in one month. With the trial version featuring reduced functions, the company wants to give new users the opportunity to try out the functions at their leisure.

In version 6, Cebas upgraded the physics solver so that it offers rule-based, multi-physics FX possibilities. A fluid simulation system was also added for the first time. Anyone who would like to carry out a few experiments with the trial version of thinkingParticles 6 can download it here after registering.

It is compatible with Autodesk 3ds Max from version 2013 onwards.
